I AM OFFERING A CA.1940 FULLY HALLMARKED WILLIAM SPRATLING SILVER LINK BRACELET WHICH I PURCHASED AT AN ANTIQUE JEWELRY STORE BY THE ZOCALO IN MEXICO CITY DURING A TRIP IN THE MID 1970s.WILLIAM SPRATLING, AN AMERICAN ARCHITECT, WAS THE MOST ICONIC ARTISAN AND DESIGNER OF THE MEXICAN SILVER RENAISSANCE IN TAXCO MEXICO AND MANY FAMOUS DESIGNERS WORKED FOR HIM.. THERE ARE MANY BOOKS DEVOTED TO SPRATLING'S WORK.
THE BRACELET CONSISTS OF 4 CUT OUT LINKS HAVING INCISED AND CUT OUT SWIRLS MEASURING ABOUT 1 INCH X 1 INCH, THEY ARE JOINED BY "O" RINGS TO 4 LINKS WITH A BALL DESIGN MEASURING ABOUT 1/2 INCH WIDE BY I INCH IN HEIGHT.
IT WEIGHS 3.5 OUNCES.
MANY OF SPRATLING'S EARLY BRACELETS DATING FROM 1933-1946 HAVE A SILVER PIN HINGE CLOSURE DESIGN WHICH THIS ONE HAS.
