Sterling silver Fred Davis Shield and carved obsidian mask necklace with a length of 15 inches The mask section is 0.9 by 0.8 inches,  hallmarked with FD.  Total weight is 15.5 grams.  Penny is for size reference.  Probably from about the 1930s.   Fred Davis, an early collector and dealer in pre-Columbian and Mexican art. Born in Chicago, he came to Mexico in 1910. His gallery was a center for the exchange of art and ideas for artists and intellectuals.  He provided inspiration for Spratling designs who in the early years sold through the Davis Gallery.  Penny is for size reference.  This is a very old estate find that has been lightly polished; no obvious condition issues.
