INTERSTNG VINTAGE OLD ENGRAVED STERLING 1940s MEXICAN INDIAN HAIR PIN /HAIR WEAR

Offered here for auction is a VERY unusual, vintage Taxco Mexican Sterling silver hair pin. It consists of a sheet of Sterling silver which has been intricately cut out to form two Indian figures facing each other in a floral frame. Then the whole piece was domed and HAND ENGRAVED to give detail to the scene. The hair piece has a 'pin' that is attached to a safety chain; the pin is made of thick silver wire, quite heavy and sturdy. It has a heavy silver ball that has a few dings on it. The piece is fully 'functional' and would be a fantastic 'bun pin'. Or...you could re-purpose it and put it on a bag or box! It is marked with a crown and Hecho en Mexico, SLOO925. The OO could indicate Taxco and of course the 925 is for Sterling silver. I looked in my reference books on Mexican Hallmarks, and I know I've seen this mark before, but could not find it. Help! The piece appears to be quite old and has wonderful patina! “Hair ware” collectors, here's one for you!

The cutout pin measures 4" x 2 ". The pin and ball 4 1/8” long. The ball is 1/2” in diameter. Weight: 17 grams.
