Parker OEM Linear Actuator Stage 3" Travel w/Stepper Motor, Encoder, Hiwin Slide
Customized, high precision linear actuator made by Parker Hannifin for a large biotech firm.  Parker OEM model 803-9288E. These have 3" of travel and move on a pair of Hiwin MGN9HH precision linear slide bearings.
Driven by a  NEMA 17, 4 wire bipolar stepper motor with a damper installed on the rear shaft.  These are Lin Engineering part number 4118M-03SD-03RO which I cannot find on the Lin website, but they are also labeled "Maximum Voltage: 100 VDC and Current: 0.85 A RMS. I tested one using a Pololu TIC stepper driver and it worked well with a 12V - 24V power supply and 0.25 - 1.0A coil current. Movement is smooth and quiet when run at 1/8 microstepping. I've included a short video of one of the stages in operation.
The lead screw is 12mm OD with a 2mm pitch and a pre-loaded nut for zero backlash (under a reasonable load).  A helpful customer has confirmed that the mechanical resolution is 0.01mm (10um) per full step (thanks Adrian).
There is an optical home switch on one side and an adjustable physical stop on the other. The home sensor wiring is:
Brown = +5V
Black = ground
Blue = output (NC)
These include an RLS model RLM2-12BCA RoLin™ linear incremental magnetic encoder which has a resolution of ≈ 0.488 μm.  The pinout for the encoder is:
Red = +5V
Black = ground
White = quad out
Blue = quad out
Brown = reference out
The mating connectors are Molex MicroFit 3.0, PN 43045-0412 for the motor and 43045-1412 for the encoder.
These are oddly shaped and have some small nicks and scratches from handling, but are guaranteed to be in good working condition.
