    Description

This luxurious 100% Vicuña Scarf in a rich camel color was woven by Incalpaca TPX in Peru especially for Paul Stuart in the early 2000’s once vicuña items were allowed to be sold in the United States from its previous designation as an endangered species.
The scarf is 58 inches long (including 3 inches of fringe) by 12 inches wide.
The mahogany box is 13.5 inches by 9 inches by 1.25 inches deep. The box is lined in black felt and has an inset closure that does not show on the outside. The scarf comes with a numbered label certifying that the fiber is Peruvian Vicuña and came from government-controlled shearing operations.
Vicuña is the world's finest animal fiber with an average diameter of 12-13 microns. It is extremely light, amazingly soft, and provides unrivaled warmth. This gentle animal, which lives at 5000 meters above sea level mainly in the Peruvian Andes, can be shorn only every two years. Each animal offers about 200 grams of its incomparable hair during each shearing and it takes about two animal’s hair to make one men’s scarf.
Incalpaca TPX is the only manufacturer headquartered and located in Peru (most other manufacturers of vicuña products are in Italy).
They have specialized machinery to work with this noble fiber, and have more than 20 years in the handling and treatment of it, manufacturing coats, layers, scarves and blankets.
I am the first owner of the item.  It was purchased directly from Paul Stuart in New York City.
The coat displayed with the scarf is for display purposes only and is not for sale.
