This is quite the STATEMENT NECKLACE!  Had the coins not offered a clue as to what it was, I would not have been able to identify it as a Guatemalan "chachal" necklace.  What's interesting is that the necklace looks to be a more recent handmade piece (noticed from the type of pendant and the fancy toggle clasp with "caviar" dots), yet the coins used in the necklace are genuine antique coins--there are 1/2 Real coins dated 1900 and 1 Real coin with no date I could find, interspersed within the natural rhodolite garnet Heishi discs.
The large silver pendant is ornately detailed, with a "cha cha" tassel border.  It tests strongly positive for sterling silver, although it is not marked.  All of the silver you see on the necklace has been tested, and it's all sterling.  The beads have been tested on the Presidium gem tester (along with the little faceted ones at the ends before the clasp) and they are genuine rhodolite garnet.
This very cool Guatemalan chachal garnet and silver necklace measures 26" long (the beaded portion, with a 3" drop on the pendant.  It is quite heavy, weighing in at FIVE OUNCES (about 155 grams) on my postage scale. It is in EXCELLENT condition.
