For your consideration is a sterling silver “Yalalag” cross pendant.
The cross features a central convex shaped amethyst stone.
The back is stamped with ‘STERLING’, ‘MEXICO, ’925’, ‘JCB’, and the “Eagle” form mark with the number 3 indicating the pendant was made in Taxco, Mexico.
This eagle mark was used until the late 1960s or early 1970s.
Taxco is a small city in the Mexican state of Guerrero.
The city is heavily associated with silver, both with the mining of it and other metals and for the crafting of it into jewelry, silverware and other items. Today, mining is no longer a mainstay of the city's economy. The city's reputation for silverwork, along with its picturesque homes and surrounding landscapes, have made tourism the main economic activity.  Silversmithing was reinvigorated in Taxco by American

, who moved to the town in the 1920s, creating silver design workshops and exporting items, mostly to the United States.
