Is what is the usb cord plugged into?
answer: usb power the device and relay switch !!
I see power plugged into a battery pack but there is a usb cord in the picture also- what is it for?
answer: that is power up the linear motor 12 volt battery only for linear motor !!
the device power is coming from USB and the linear motor power is coming for independ power supply !! such as 110 volt / 220 volt or any power supply volt you like for your linear motor !!
Also is it possible to change the voice command from what you say in the video “alexa power change direction” for example could you say “ alexa close door 1” or “alexa open door 1”
answer: YES YOU CAN !! you can change voice command on cloud site sentryrobotic IOT web site !! but each time change voice command name will need to resetup with alexa app ! the best way is to setup command with alexa route voice command so you can change name anytime you like !!

I don't have amazon echo, I use Google home. I tried to add the device to Google home, but I am unable to make it work. Any suggestions on how to add it to Google home?

Yes !! for Google home you have to use with IFTTT !

2. Is it a Wemo emulator (esp2866 etc.) If yes, then will I be able to use IFTTT? If no, then which server for Alexa?

3. Is it possible to add manual up and down and stop button (dpdt switch?)?
